Jesus uses an example to illustrate and expand our concept of service. Rather than simply completing what is expected, we actively strive to seek out new ways to respond to the opportunities around us.
The Lord responds to a question with a response that underscores the reality of the resurrection. Knowing that there is more than this life, we have an opportunity to prepare our hearts for the day when the story of our life here on earth concludes.
The Lord teaches that almsgiving with “dishonest wealth” allows us to use things of this world for the glory of God, rather than become a tempting trap that distracts and deceives.
St. Paul reminds the people of Philippi that our final home is in heaven, inviting us to spend our days on earth preparing for the final journey that leads us there.
There are many options for the readings at Mass on this feast of All Souls. If they sound familiar, chances are you’ve heard them at more than one funeral. May our prayers this day be directed to those who gone before us…may they rest in peace.
Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
The saints inspires and encourage us to embrace our faith in Christ as we face the challenges of life. May we live our days on earth so as to be ready to join them in Heaven!
