1st Reading – Deuteronomy 18:15-20
God will raise up a prophet after Moses for the people; if anyone does not not listen to him, the Lord will make him answer for it.
If someone presumes to speak as a prophet in God’s name with a message not from God, he will die.

“If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”
We joyfully draw near to the Lord in worship with thanksgiving.
2nd Reading – 1st Corinthians 7:32-35
Paul encourages the people to be free from anxieties and things of the world.
Paul’s intention is to encourage our lives to serve the Lord without distraction.

Those present are amazed at the authority of the Lord, where even evil spirits obey Jesus.
