The readings today all point to a time of fulfillment and hope. The “mountain of the Lord” or the “house of the Lord” or even the healing and restoration made possible by Jesus…it all looks to our final destination where the Lord Jesus Christ reigns supreme!
The spiritual life is not easy, and the Gospel of Luke today makes it clear that perseverance is a crucial component in the life of faith. Hang in there!
Today we remember all our beloved dead and we entrust them to the tender care of Christ’s divine mercy. Living and deceased, we are all held in the hands of God, and we pray for the repose of the souls of those who have passed from this life…that they will be united in love with the Lord in Heaven.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord. Let Perpetual Light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. May their souls and the souls of all the Faithful Departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
St. Paul addresses the ongoing challenge of temptation we all face with the hope we have in Christ. It’s a spiritual battle, but one that we face everyday with the grace and strength of God.
St. Paul offers a contrast between the sin of Adam and the redemption we have in Jesus Christ, thus providing us with a view of the world that is both realistic and hopeful.
We learn more about Abraham’s faith in the Letter to the Romans, inspired to search our hearts for any obstacles that are keeping us from Christ. May we cast these stumbling blocks to the foot of the Cross!
