When we conform our lives to God’s will we are united into Christ’s family. May the Lord’s love inspire us to faithfully follow him with sincere and open hearts.
Big or small, all of us are part of a family that has many different dynamics. Mark’s Gospel reveals that similar traits were also present in the family of Jesus, offering insight into the humanity of Christ.
The genealogy of Jesus walks us through several high points in salvation history. Yet, once we understand that we are grafted on to this tree through the gift of faith, we see our connection to Christ enriched and enlivened. We are a part of the Lord’s family!
The readings this week point out different aspects of the blessings and burdens in family life. The good news? God is in the midst of our families! May we draw strength from our faith to cherish and support the people in our family today.
On this feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary we hear in the Gospel of Matthew the genealogy of Jesus as the context for the birth of the Lord. The reading demonstrates how we are part of the larger story of salvation history; God works in and through countless lives to weave together our journey from this life to the next.
The first reading offers a beautiful reflection on Paul’s gratitude for the people in the Church of the Thessalonians. It’s a good reminder for us as we thank the Lord for the relationships in our lives.
It’s a beautiful image: Jesus inviting the children to come forward to be blessed and embraced. May Christ’s example inspire us to bring our kids to the Lord – to encounter the unconditional love of God.
