As the early Church experiences new growth with the reception of non-Jewish Greek speakers, Barnabas sets out to find Paul and the two of them work together in Antioch for over a year.
Luke’s Gospel reveals the Lord’s drive to travel and announce the Kingdom of God, and as His disciples this same urgency underscores our need to proclaim our faith to all we meet.
Philip’s conversation today reveals the need to share the gift of faith. Somebody told us about Jesus; now it’s our turn to pass on the Good News to another.
How can we share our faith with those around us? Some simple and practical considerations include service, invitation, technology and word of mouth…and perhaps one of these will speak to our hearts today as we proclaim the Good News to those we meet.
St. Philip offers us an example about how to invite another person (in this case Nathaniel) to meet Jesus. We, too, can be a bridge that brings someone to the Lord today.
On this feast of St. Mark we hear the command of the Risen Lord to the Eleven: they are to go out into the world and proclaim the Gospel. May these words inspire us today to share our faith with the people God has placed in our lives.
