Study, Pray, Serve: 6th Sunday of the Year
Let’s explore some of the themes in the Mass readings for the 6th Sunday of the Year.
1st Reading – Leviticus 13:1-2,44-46
- Moses and Aaron are instructed by God how to assess and decide if someone has leprosy.
- Once a person is named a leper, he must live apart from others, declaring he is “unclean!”
Psalm – 32:1-2,5,11
- “I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation.”
- Blessed are those who acknowledge their guilt; the Lord has taken their faults away.
2nd Reading – 1st Corinthians 10:30-11:1
- Whatever we do, we do for the glory of God.
- We avoid giving offense to anyone; rather, we imitate Christ.
Gospel – Mark 1:40-45
- When a leper approaches Jesus and begs for healing, the Lord is moved with pity and makes him clean.
- The man (now healed) goes away and begins telling everyone about the miracle.
