The Scripture readings today all reference human hardship: suffering, battle and illness. Yet through it all we have hope as we see how God gives us the grace we need to overcome these challenges every time we turn to Christ.
As Samuel is looking at Jesse’s sons, he is reminded that the Lord sees our lives differently than we do. May we look at the current situation of our world today and ask for the grace to see with God’s eyes.
Jesus teaches in Mark’s Gospel that the greatest commandments are about loving God and one another. In these current times with COVID-19 we have incredible opportunities to put these two commandments into practice.
He never says a word in the Scriptures, but St. Joseph demonstrates by his actions his faith in God and his capacity to sacrifice for others. May his example inspire us today.
