Study, Pray, Serve: 14th Sunday of the Year

Here are some of the main themes in the readings for the 14th Sunday of the Year.

1st Reading – Isaiah 66:10-14c

  • Rejoice and exult over the prosperity of Jerusalem.
  • The Lord’s power shall be known to his servants in the sight of these blessings.

Psalm 66:1-7,16,20

  • “Let all praise the name of the Lord.”
  • Shout for joy and praise the good works of God.

2nd Reading – Galatians 6:14-18

  • Paul boasts in the cross of Jesus Christ, and now he bears the marks of Jesus on his body.
  • Peace and mercy be to all who follow the Lord.

Gospel – Luke 10:1-12,17-20

  • Jesus sends out 72 disciples in pairs to announce the Kingdom of God.
  • They return, rejoicing at the power of the name of Jesus.
