Let’s take a look at some of the themes that we find in the Mass Readings for the Solemnity of All Saints.

1st Reading – Revelation 7:2-4,9-14

  • John has a vision of a great multitude from every nation, race, people, and tongue.
  • Having survived a time of great distress, the saints worship God with all the hosts of heaven.

Psalm – 24:1-6

  • “Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.”
  • The sinless and clean of heart shall climb the mountain of the Lord.

2nd Reading – 1st John 3:1-3

  • We are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed.
  • When it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Gospel – Matthew 5:1-12a

  • They are blessed who face struggles in this life, for their reward will be great in heaven.
