Hello Father. I thank you for this recording. In regards to possessions, for sure like many others I have a lot of typical possessions; pots and pans for cooking, shoes, clothing, socks, sweaters, tools, machinery etc., In order to be more simple, are any hobbies a form of attachment? If so, then can we enjoy anything at all? If certain hobbies include materials such as craft making, listening to music or playing an instrument, playing athletic sports, what is acceptable? I realize that this is a broad topic. I for sure don’t want myself and others being consumed by things, but can we have some type of hobby or something to enjoy so as long as not to keep away from God?

You are asking an excellent question! The answer is yes, we can use the things of this world…but with some clear directives.
      1. We are to be good stewards, not wasting but using our resources wisely and well.
      2. We use things to enrich our lives and the lives of one another; things are in service of people.
      3. Things are subordinate to God and God’s commands; things have a lower priority than God, people, and our core values.
      4. If our love for things becomes greater than our love for God and one another, then we have to take an honest look into our hearts.

      God bless you!
