This homily was part of a Communal Penance Service at the Cathedral on November 29, 2022. Reflecting on the Parable of the Lost Son, we take time this Advent to “Come to our senses” and return to the Lord.
John the Baptist bluntly and forcefully addresses the crowds, calling them to repent and prepare for the one who will come after him. May this message inspire us to repent of our sins and be ready for the Lord’s coming.
Jesus empowers and sends out the Apostles to continue his ministry. What’s more, the Lord’s compassion for those in need sets the context for how we serve one another in his name.
Two blind men are healed by Jesus and are filled with joy. As we drawn near the Lord today may we see clearly, for the Lord is our light and our salvation!
Both Isaiah and Jesus use the image of rock when speaking about a relationship with God. Unchanging and immutable, the rock of faith is a sure and solid foundation that provides the stability we need to build our spiritual lives.
