The wise women in the Gospel today remind us that we are called to be prepared to live our faith for the long haul. Saying yes to the Lord is a crucial step, but it is reaffirmed moment-by-moment as we keep true every day to the teaching and example of Jesus.
Jesus heals a child that could not be helped by this disciples. Why? Their faith was not strong enough. As the disciples sought to strengthen their faith we can learn from them, training our “spiritual muscles” to become strong as we turn to the Lord for wisdom, strength and guidance.
Caught in the storm Jesus exhorts his disciples to take courage and discard fear. What a great reminder for us today! When fear threatens to choke our lives may we turn to the one who offers us strength and wisdom to carry on.
When God said to King Solomon, “Ask something of me and I will give it to you,” Solomon offers a response that is profound…inviting us today to consider how we carry out the Lord’s plan for our lives as we serve others with God’s grace.
The Lord speaks bluntly when he tells his disciples about the opposition they will encounter: hatred, persecution, suffering, and ridicule will follow them. And yet this opposition only highlights what’s truly at stake: eternal life!
The fruitfulness of our lives offers a useful indication regarding the state of our souls. Whether its our heart or another’s, may the Fruits of the Spirit help guide us on our journey of faith.
The Scriptures make it clear that the darkness of sin and evil touches the landscape of human life. Yet our faith proclaims that God’s grace is greater than the darkness, which is cast out by the light of Jesus Christ.
The Lord promises us the Holy Spirit, who will guide us in truth. What challenges are you facing today? Call upon the Holy Spirit for the guidance you need!
The first reading from the Book of Wisdom offers an insight into the life and death of Jesus. As the Son of God was triumphant over sin and evil, so we can also place our hope in Christ’s victory as we call upon His grace and face our challenges today.
When worry overtakes us we lose our focus on the Lord and run the risk of wasting the gift of our lives. Jesus knows this, and his teaching in the Gospel today reminds us that as we follow Christ we will receive what we need to encounter each day when we think, pray and share over the worry that confronts us.
