The Psalm response addresses the cry of those who have experienced pain and suffering in this life. The Lord is near…may we draw strength from Jesus Christ and allow his grace to strengthen and soothe our souls.
Jesus reveals in the Gospel of John many different sources of testimony on his behalf. Will we take these to heart and follow the Lord throughout this life?
Both Isaiah and Jesus offer words of hope and consolation regarding the faithful and tender compassion of God. The Psalmist sums it up, “The Lord is gracious and merciful.”
