The three-fold exchange between Jesus and Peter reveals the Lord’s desire to both meet us where we are and challenge us to grow. Our love for the Lord will thus lead us to follow him with greater intensity as we open our hearts and offer our lives.
Both Moses and Jesus speak of a faith that pertains to matters of life and death. May our Lenten journey empower us to embrace the gift of God as we live our lives for the Lord.
The invitation of Jesus to “come and you will see” to two people will become for them a life changing experience as they spend time with the Lord. The same is true for us; may we actively create opportunities to drawn near to Christ, so that we might be filled with His grace.
The call and response of St. Matthew in the Gospel today offers us a pattern of discipleship. As we draw near to Christ may we bring as many people with us as we can!
The Lord tells Peter to follow him and not focus on what others are doing. What a good reminder for us! May we recognize that the Lord has plans for us all; our task: to carry out our work and follow Jesus with all our heart.
