1st Reading – Isaiah 43:16-21
The Lord is doing something new and marvelous, inviting the people to see it.
Springing forth, God provides a mighty, life-giving river for the people to drink.
Psalm – 126:1-6
“The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.”
The captivity that began in sorrow has now led to a return with laughter and rejoicing.
2nd Reading – Philippians 3:8-14
Paul considers everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus as Lord.
While we are straining toward the day of our resurrection, we pursue our goal: a life in Christ.
Gospel – John 8:1-11
A woman caught in adultery is brought to Jesus as a crowd gathers around to stone her to death.
The Lord responds to them by saying, “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
After the crowd departs, Jesus does not condemn her, but urges her to go and sin no more.
