We are reminded that our faith is built upon the foundation provided by the Apostles who were called by name by Jesus. As we hear the call of Christ in our lives today, we contribute to their efforts as we proclaim the Good News in the world.
Jesus gives his Apostles power and authority, and then he invites them to trust in God alone. It’s a good reminder for us to claim the blessings that we’ve been given as we put the Lord first in our lives.
Jesus calls by name the Twelve Apostles from the disciples who followed him. Chosen by him, they have work to do…reminding us today that the Lord continues to call people to carry on the Lord’s saving work through the mission of the Church.
Having offered his personal example, the Lord now extends his authority to the Twelve Apostles so that they can continue his ministry. He calls them by name…just as he calls each one of us today.
Filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples boldly proclaim the Good News in the face of opposition…inviting us to call upon the Spirit to strengthen us in our moments of difficulty.
The transfiguration of Jesus gives the apostles strength to continue on their journey to Jerusalem, and it gives them an insight into the glory of Jesus. May we recognize moments when God blesses us as we continue on our journey of faith.
Calling his disciples, the Lord appointed and sent Twelve to preach the Good News and drive out demons. Christ continues to call apostles today, inviting us to continue his mission on earth…with our eyes fixed on heaven.
After spending the night in prayer, the Lord called 12 disciples by name and chose them to be Apostles. Christ continues to call disciples (with imperfections included!) to be transformed in faith and sent into the world that we might offer our lives and proclaim the Good News.
When Herod asked “Who is this Jesus?” he was responding to the Lord’s ministry – where Jesus and the Apostles are proclaiming the Good News and healing the sick. May we continue this work through our words and actions today.
