1st Reading – Isaiah 55:6-9
Isaiah urges the people to seek and call upon the Lord while he is near.
God’s thoughts and ways and not like ours; as the heavens are high above the earth, so are God’s ways high above our own.
Psalm – 145:2-3,8-9,17-18
“The Lord is near to all who call upon him.”
God’s goodness and kindness is revealed in the compassion extended to all creation.
2nd Reading – Philippians 1:20c-24,27a
Christ is magnified in our bodies, by life or by death.
St. Paul is in conflict: death means that he will be with Christ; life means that he is able to serve Christ’s people.
