  • When confronted by God, the serpent is banished and forced to crawl on its belly.

Psalm – 130:1-8

  • “With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.”
  • From the depths we cry to God who offers kindness and forgiveness.

2nd Reading – 2nd Corinthians 4:13-5:1

  • We believe that the one who raised Jesus from the dead will also raise us.
  • We are not discouraged; rather, as our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed.

Jesus taught his disciples at the Last Supper that the bread and wine become his Body and Blood that they must eat and drink. Thus, we cherish the Eucharist and fervently come to the Lord’s table to receive Holy Communion, for we are what we eat.
