  • The Lord commands the people to not molest an alien, for they were once aliens in the land of Egypt.
  • When lending money to a poor neighbor, the people are not to act as extortioners.

  • “I love you, Lord, my strength.”
  • We bless God who is our shield and refuge, the rock that keeps us safe from our enemies.

2nd Reading – Thessalonians 1:5c-10

  • Paul reminds the people how through the Holy Spirit they imitated his example and became a model for all believers.
  • Their example has spread through the region, giving praise to Jesus Christ.

Gospel – Matthew 22:34-40

  • Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18, showing that we are called to love God and one another.
