The exchange about marriage and divorce in the Gospel of Matthew reminds us that these topics have been challenging and messy from the beginning of time. May we call upon the Lord today for the strength to support the marriages around us and help those who face the pain of divorce with the compassion of Christ.

Thank you Fr. Ricci for speaking on such a tender subject. Our eldest son, (and our entire family alongside him,) has gone through a tragic divorce experience. A devoted man of God, very committed to the Blessed Mother, he was devastated when he was served for divorce. Beyond the struggle of dealing with this Sacramental ‘loss’ we were unprepared for the unjust judgement from our fellow Catholic brothers & sisters. By the grace of God he found great healing working through the annulment process on a personal level; however, he (and we) still struggle with the biased opinion of many who lack the compassion the tragedy of divorce brings. We now count ourselves blessed to have grown in our own compassion towards those who are suffering through this similar loss. Hugs to you for inspiring so many of us to follow the teachings of Christ through compassion, care, and love…as He taught us!
