22nd Sunday of the Year: Humility. Catholic Inspiration

In this handout picture released by the Vatican Press Office, Pope Francis performs the foot-washing ritual at the Castelnuovo di Porto refugees center near Rome on March 24, 2016. Pope Francis washed the feet of 11 young asylum seekers and a worker at their reception centre to highlight the need for the international community to provide shelter to refugees. Several of the asylum seekers, one holding a baby in her arms, were reduced to tears as the 79-year-old pontiff kneeled before them, pouring water over their feet, drying them with a towel and bending to kiss them. / AFP PHOTO / STR / RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE - MANDATORY CREDIT "AFP PHOTO / OSSERVATORE ROMANO" - NO MARKETING NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS - DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS STR/AFP/Getty Images

    Fr. Andrew,
As usual, you have presented three important aspects in our daily Christian life. Your presentation is excellent and is a great guide for all of us. Thank you for responding to God’s call to share your inspiration. However, as I have mentioned in some of my previous replies, you don’t mention the power of the Holy Sprit, as a guide to following Jesus to the Father. The Holy Spirit is given to us to help us live our lives in following Jesus, as you know. Your teaching this Sunday provides good direction and guidance, but you seem to place the burden on the individual’s own actions and reviews without mentioning that we really need God’s guidance. In my personal experience, I have found that the Holy Spirit’s guidance, when followed, helps me to guide my daily actions according to God’s will nd direction for me. Our parish is sponsoring a Life in the Spirit Seminar with talks (teachings) by nationally recognized people involved for 40-50 years with the Charismatic Renewal. It will be held from Sept 12-Oct 24 at St. Mary’s church in Minong from 6:30-8:00 pm. It would be wonderful if you or others from your parishes could join us.
Thank you again for your ministry and service to our diocese and the broader church.
