Jesus calls the Twelve disciples by name and empowers them for ministry. The Lord does the same for us! May we say yes and allow God’s grace to work through our imperfections so that we may serve others with the love of Christ.
The Lord calls Peter, Andrew, James and John by name to carry out a specific task: invite others to follow Jesus Christ. This work continues today, and our invitation is to consider how the Lord calls us to invite others to follow as well.
We are reminded that our faith is built upon the foundation provided by the Apostles who were called by name by Jesus. As we hear the call of Christ in our lives today, we contribute to their efforts as we proclaim the Good News in the world.
The 72 disciples return to Jesus, rejoicing at how their lives – empowered by Christ – have made a difference. Their “yes” to the Lord inspires us to do the same, offering our lives so that Christ can work through us in the world today.
Jesus gives his Apostles power and authority, and then he invites them to trust in God alone. It’s a good reminder for us to claim the blessings that we’ve been given as we put the Lord first in our lives.
Jesus calls by name the Twelve Apostles from the disciples who followed him. Chosen by him, they have work to do…reminding us today that the Lord continues to call people to carry on the Lord’s saving work through the mission of the Church.
Having offered his personal example, the Lord now extends his authority to the Twelve Apostles so that they can continue his ministry. He calls them by name…just as he calls each one of us today.
Jesus reveals his power as the Son of God as he casts out the demons in the Gospel of Matthew. The Lord continues to work in our world, and as his disciples we confront evil with his grace and strength.
During the storm on the sea the disciples cry out in fear. Jesus calms the storm and comforts them, reminding us that when fear threatens to overwhelm us we seek the one who gives us strength.
The Lord prays for the unity of the disciples, and how pertinent that prayer remains today! May we work tirelessly to promote our connections and relationships, building up our community at all levels in life.
